Machen Manufacturing Ltd. was originally founded by the late Ryan Johnson in 1983 and has been operating within the custom manufacturing, automotive, and machine sales industries ever since. Ryan was a machinist and jack of all trades with a mind for custom design and a passion for fast German cars, and he led Machen as the sole owner and operator until his death in 2020. He was well known for his commitment to quality, tireless work ethic, and straightforward & honest approach to business and relationships. Ryan’s children Sarah & Nate Johnson took over running the business in 2022, adding managing partner Trevor Stitt in 2025, and the management team continues to retain the values in Machen that Ryan lived and breathed both personally and professionally.
We now specialize in custom machinery primarily for sawmill optimization, and have the capacity to custom-build industry agnostic machinery and equipment from start to finish including research & development, design & drafting, welding & fabrication, machining, painting, and pneumatic & other component assembly.
Trevor is a mechanical engineer with 14 years of experience in drafting, designing, and technical leadership. He joined Machen to lead business growth and expansion in early 2025, and works on-site as head of operations.
Sarah is a project manager with a background in research science and has 10+ years of leadership experience. She works on-site and manages HR, administration, and finance including bookkeeping, budgeting, and forecasting.
Nate is a civil engineering technologist specializing in infrastructure projects in land development and municipal improvements. He has a supporting role in property management and strategic decision making.
Kevin has decades of experience welding, fabricating, and leading teams. He worked with Ryan for 10 years and re-joined the team in 2025 as our production manager.
Les has been working as our industrial painter since late 2022.
Mike has been working as an apprentice welder/fabricator with us since early 2023.
Tyler has been working as a fabricator with us since early 2025.
John has been working with us as an on-call machinist and fabricator since early 2025.
Blake has been working with us as an apprentice machinist since early 2026.
Grae has been working with us as a fabricator since early 2026.
