Job Description


We are looking for a Manual Machinist to join our team. Your primary role will be to manufacture various mechanical parts, pieces, or products using a milling machine, lathe, and other shop equipment according to engineered drawings, blueprints, and other diagrams.

We are a small team of skilled tradesman working closely together to build custom machines from start to finish, with the opportunity to learn and develop skills in all aspects of manufacturing through engaging with every step of an unfolding project. Job Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret drawings or sample parts to determine dimensions, specifications, and tolerances of finished work-pieces and machining processes required including sequence of operations.
  • Operate manual lathe, milling machines, drill press, and other manual equipment to produce precision parts.
  • Set up machining equipment to ensure it operates at accepted standards for the type of tooling being used.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as feed, speed, depth, and angle of cut or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine controls according to guidelines.
  • Utilize calipers and other measuring tools to ensure accuracy in dimensions.
  • Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve manufacturing processes and efficiency.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.

$30-40/hr, subject to experience and evaluation

  • Minimum Level 2 Machinist Apprenticeship
  • Ability & experience running manual machining equipment to produce precision parts
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineered drawings & blueprints
  • Experience working in a small team
  • Desire to learn and grow new skills
  • Ability to accept and respond to constructive criticism
  • Experience and a willingness to step in where you’re needed a strong asset
  • Experience with welding & fabrication an asset
  • Experience with pneumatic component assembly an asset
  • Equipment operation certification (e.g., forklift) an asset
  • Experience with R&D projects an asset
  • First aid training an asset, but can be provided
